Zoa Help Please
Okay so I got a colony of brown zoas last week. pretty basic. i know zoas are easy to take care of and a good starter coral. I've successfully kept hammer corals so i figured obviously i'd be able to to zoas. anyways, I've had the colony for about a week and only half the colony or so is opening... I'm kinda concerned because the first or second day the majority of them were opening but for some reason now they're not....
Yes I know there's 2 aiptasia i need to get rid of... I plan on removing them with aiptasia X this week Any ideas on whats up? TANK PERAMETERS pH 7.6-7.8 Nitrates - 0 Nitrites - 0 Alkalinity - 200ppm Salinity - 1.025-6 |

Zoas have a tendency to do this. Even though your pictures are blurry I think the coral is alright. It is just adjusting to its new home. The aiptasia might be stinging it's hard to tell. Your alk is at the top end and your pH is just on the edge. You can't fix pH problems by using buffer. What happens is, the pH temporarily goes up and once the water goes back into equilibrium with CO2 in the atmosphere the pH goes back. So you end with high alk and pH where it was. Try and get fresh air from the outside to the tank.

pH 7.6-7.8
Nitrates - 0 Nitrites - 0 Alkalinity - 200ppm Salinity - 1.025-6 They look like some of them are just barely open, but won't come out fully. is that normal? How long does it usually take for them to open all the way? |
