50 Gallon Tank Pictures
Hey everyone,
I will be setting up a 50 gallon reef tank in the very near future, and I am setting up this thread so that you guys could post some pictures of your 50, 40, 45, 55, 60, or 65 gallon tanks! This would be really helpful so that I could see how your tanks look so that I could get some inspiration and gather some ideas. -Thanks to all that participate |

I will have 2 Ocellaris Clownfish, 1 Six Line Wrasse, 1 Green Clown Goby (or some other sort), and maybe a Bicolor dotty back. I don't want to have too much fish, I think this is a suitable amount.

it depends, i am slightly overstocked but the sps corals love the fish crap. If you keep up with your tank maitenance then you could put a few more in there. Any corals going in there as well?

i would suggest to not add a sixline. sixlines may get mean as they are older (hit or miss here). you should look in to a Melanurus or a canary wrasse or any flasher wrasses. they are more peaceful.

Yeah, the orange paddle sponge was awesome, however, a PITA to keep the algae off of it!

Really, I was not too sure about the sixline wrasse, but a flasher wrasse looks beautiful as well. I don't know what corals I will be getting yet. Wow these tanks are beautiful. Matt Dean, what is the anemone looking thing in your top right corner of the tank, with the green tips?

Actually, it's a Torch coral. It was a beautiful piece, I had to sell it, as it grew way too big in a very short time. i wish i had just fragged it and kept it for my new tank.
I hear lots of people say a sixline is a pain and aggressive. The flashers are very nice. I have 3 leopard Wrasses myself. The Blue Star leopard wrasses is my favorite. |

Oh, sorry, I am new to this but what do you mean by just fragging it and keeping it?
Also, how big of a tank do you keep this wrasse in? |

Fragging is cutting a piece of the coral and letting it grow into it's own colony. The torch had 4 distinct heads. I could have cut one of the heads off, traded the 3 head coral and let the 1 head grow in the new tank.
I keep the wrasses in a 125 gallon. You can keep many wrasses in a 50 gallon. Just research their needs. The Blue Star Leopard wrasse needs ideal conditions to thrive. Mine have done very well, I am happy to say! |

Oh, that is actually interesting I had never known that before. When it comes to it, I will probably end up getting some sort of wrasse, they're all so beautiful, it's hard to choose.
