You cant run koralias on a wave maker unless it is the special koralias on their wave maker. The constant off and on will damage the motors and impellers. Reverse flow is also a problem when using a wave maker.

No - you are wrong. The 1050s are the EVOs that CAN be run on wavemakers.

Sounds like you need to contact Hydor - they have an upgraded magnet part you need. I have 2 1050s and 1 1400 and contacted them and they sent the parts out really fast.

The problem is that the magnet gets unseated from its place, causing the prop to start backwards.

Todd141,

Thanks again!

You were correct. I called Hydor in California and they are sending replacement parts on Monday.

I wouldn't get to excited yet Fred. In the long run(i.e. out of warranty)theres a good chance that the Evo's wont hold up on a wavemaker that uses an on/off timer like yours.

Is this fact? I thought the Evo's were designed to work with "any" timer type wave maker? The CSR at Hydor also had confirmed that with me.

No hydor is a great company. When I had a problem with my k4s they were willing to help me and when the problem ended up as me breaking the ceramic shafts they didn't even ask me when and were I bought them just what is my address. They send me new ones in no time. I don't think hydor will ever leave you high and dry.

Hydor is a great company and I highly recommend their products, especially the Koralia line. IMO I think they revolutionized the hobby by bring a high flow powerhead to the market that was affordable to average joes like you and me.
What I think they did wrong was advertise an AC pump as controllable. In the long term no such pump exists.

Exactly what I was getting ready to say. The only Koralia powerhead that will hold up in the long run without replacement is the 12v units. They have a different plug than a regular wall socket that only plugs into a wave maker system. You can also not only use the Koralia Wave Maker, but you can also use the Aquatronica wave maker system.
