Reef Maniacs Beckette skimmer VS Reef Octo XP5000 series?

Hey guys, i have a 120g 4x2x2ft tank and it has been running for about 8 months now. So far i have never had any major problems with nutrient transport but ever since i added the NP biopellets, i have always been thinking of getting a new skimmer.

Currently, im using the 6-inch model of the reef maniacs beckette skimmer which you can find here:
http://www.reefmaniacs.info/protein.htm - its supposed to be rated for 250g and i use a rio HF20 to power it(1200gph).

i was thinking of upgrading it to the reef octo XP5000SSS or XP3000?

or

what do you guys think?

The skimmer you have is fine but has the wrong pump on it. You need a pressure rated pump to properly drive a Beckett Skimmer. The Rio is not a pressure pump and you are losing performance because of it.

Either of the skimmers you linked would be fine and have the added benefit of lower power consumption.

go with the 3000. It is plenty for your tank.

I agree that your pump driving your beckett is the wrong pump. They are also horrible pumps. I would replace it without a second thought.

Your first link provides the pump they recommend. :-)
