Small fish stocking ideas, bioload questions, etc
I'm going to list my equipment, and my stock list idea and I would like to know what you think. I've done a ton of research, so I know my original list might be too heavy for my tank, I just want suggestions on what you would add/ remove from the list.
I was originally setting up a predator fowlr but the. Figured a larger tank teeming with small life would be more I interesting. Equipment: 75 gal RR oceanic tank Aqueon proflex 2 sump w/ refugium Coralife SS 125 skimmer 2 koriala 425 gob powerheads Reef keeper elite control system Either a 48 LED fixture or 2x 150W MH Weekly water changes. 120lbs LR ~3" sand bed Stock list ideas (feel free to edit): Royal gamma Sharknose goby Cardinal Blenny Black perc Clown pair Purple firefish Carpenter flashed wrasse Coral beauty Some chromis? Various inverts: shrimp, My current anemone, etc. A very good clean up crew. I'm wondering if I've met or exceeded my bioload, and how these fish may get along. Thanks for your time

I would hesitate on the chromis and coral beauty. The former knock each other off and the later can develop a taste for LPS.
I have had all of the following at one time or another: Geometric Pygmy Hawk Assessors ORA Fang Blennies (Grammistes, Canary, Blackline, etc.) ORA Neon and Tiger Gobies Shrimp Gobies (Orange spot, flaming, barber pole, yellow watchmen) Threadfin Cardinals, Gold Stripe Cardinals Yellow Coris Wrasse Chalk or Lantern Basslets Possum Wrasse Blue Sided Fairy Wrasse Cherub Pygmy Angelfish The biggest issue you will have is that the clowns and possibly the blenny (lawnmower, redlip, bicolor, etc) cam become aggressive. Certain wrasse not on your or my list as well (sixline, mystery, etc.) --- I would skip the LEDs and go with the 150w halides (phoenix 14000k lamps), w/ led supplementation. I would also scrap the coralife skimmer for something better, say a Bubblemagus NAC6 or NAC7. That way weekly water changes are unnecessary. As for bioload, w/ a good skimmer I have a friend that had a similar stocking list on his 90g, w/ the addition of 4 Tangs (5" Sailfin, 4" Yellow, 3" Tomini, and something I cannot remember). So if he got away with that, you should be fine if you bump up your skimmer. |

Starry blenny's a laidback blenny; ditto the tailspot. As film algae eaters, they don't provide a biomass problem unless you have no film algae in the tank. Clowns can get extremely aggressive and up the stress level in the tank several notches. One chromis can provide a lot of dart and dash, and seems to reassure more timid fish that they are safe. I've had a fairy wrasse kill a small goby, so I'm not fond of wrasses lately. I love coral beauties, but they stress easily. And all angels nip coral. Consider a pearly jawfish: they're a hoot, and quite easy-going. If you have a 20 g fuge, a mandy or scooter 'blenny' is a nice character in the tank.

As for the clownfish, i have a nice tank sitting around that they could live in alone.. just an excuse for another tank. so the 2 150W halides would be sufficient for SPS? i dont know why, but im just not a huge fan of LPS.. anyway.. thanks for your help ill post another list later
