Not sure if you can get them in the states, assuming thats where you live, but a bubbleking 250 would do the Job skud.

I have an AquaC and its pretty quiet, the only sound I hear is the water coming out, which I'm lazily fixing with a down pipe to quiet the splash. You might want to start thinking about a quiet pump also.

I have a SWC 120 cone and I litterally cannot hear it running even when everything else is off. If I didn't see the bubbles and foam I would not know it was on. You may need a larger skimmer but checkout the SWCs.

As mentioned, you are more like to hear the hum of a return pump over most skimmers. I have a Sicce Silence (similar to Tunzes I believe) return which is MUCH quieter than the Mag pump I had but it still has a little hum. Nothing like the diesel engine the Mag was though. I have read that eheim pumps are quiet too. I also believe that external pumps are queiter than submersible ones.

+1 on the SWC skimmers, they are very quiet. Mine is in the TV room right next to our couch and I dont hear it.

What's the noise coming from. If it's from sucking air, you can make a silencer/muffler.

...to add to Misled. Vibration! It can also add a lot of noise to a nearly silent Protein Skimmer

I have an aqua C urchin and I think it is kinda loud. I can hear it over my return pump, but it does seem to do a good job.

SWC a very good skimmer. A good choice for a cone skimmer.
