Whats wrong with Toadstool?
It has looked great for over a year, growing and no problems.
It progressed about 3 days ago from 1st pic to 2nd pic (today). Perking up a bit with a few "polyps" out every once in a while during the day. I dont know what the white spots are on it or why its just won't hold its structure or extend all of its polyps. Any suggestions would be helpful! 125g DT, Sump w/ Chaeto, t5 lighting; ES100 Skimmer; Salinity 1.025-1.026 per hydrometer; ph 7.8-8.2 I haven't ever had any problems; No3 10; NO2 0; NH4 0; Mg 1380 Thanks! |

I could be wrong here, but i had a similar issue with my toadstool. It went a pale white and none of the polyps out. I was told that they can sometimes do this when they shred for new stronger growth. My came back darker and more healthier after a few days.
As I said i'm no expert. Good luck |

Could be due to several reasons.
basically it could be due to skin shedding, or a chemical attack from another soft coral close to it, or water quality, they are vertually indestructable though, please don't panic, I have witnessed the same with mine dozens of times over the years, just keep an eye on water quality, and run some carbon and it will soon perk up.

it is quite normal for toadstools to "shrink up" and have no polyp extension for a few days sometimes even a week. in all actuality it is good thing and shows your specimen is in good health. it will shed a mucus layer to get rid of any crud that might get built up. all of mine do this about every 6 weeks or so.
i wouldn't be too concerned. should bounce back in a couple of days.

theres nothing in the second picture that suggests its doing anything but sulking or shredding skin, no problem IMO, just keep water quality up to scratch and it will recover.
The only other thing which can make them sulk apart from what we have already told you is some shrooms don't like it when they first get exposed to some phos medias.

Keep an eye on it, if it starts to develop a jelly like substance on the affected part you'll need to take quick action to save it.

I have a toadstool, and my LFS said to make sure you have good flow on it to help get its skin off when it does shed.
