FS Backup Power UPS Unit APC 1500 x 2
Hey everyone,
I have two APC 1500 UPS Units for sale, under a year old. Asking $280.00. Model: SUA1500 Brand: APC Will run Vortech MP40 at full power (28watts) for well over 6 hours. However, you can plug in a lot more than that. For my tanks, I ran a Vortech MP40, Tunze, and my Eheim 1262 return all off of this unit without any issues. The battery still managed to run everything for 3 hours before I plugged the unit back on, with plenty of juice left on the battery. Typically these are used for computer/server rooms, but work great at providing "clean power" with a true Sine wave for sensitive equipment. These are the higher end units, a step up from consumer desktop UPS units you see for sale. Link from APC website: http://www.apc.com/products/resource...500&tab=models Estimated run time at 50 watt load from APC website (a little over 5 hours): http://www.apc.com/products/configur...&totalwatts=50 Price from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/APC-SUA1500-15.../dp/B00006BBK8 Price from Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-160-_-Product Priced to move, paid well over $500.00 with tax/shipping. Any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Great insurance for your reef, it has saved me more than once. Thanks for looking, 0scar M.

I prefer cash, but I'm not completely opposed to trades. What did you have in mind?

You know, I should have made that more clear. Sorry, it's $280.00 each.

Hello everyone,
I've had a couple of people ask, so I figured I would explain it here for everyone to look at. These units are plug and play and require no wiring. You simply have one power cord going to a regular electrical plug and you plug in the rest of your equipment to unit. When the power goes out, this units keeps everything running with power drawn from the backup battery. There is no interruption of power, battery power kicks in instantly. If there are any other question, please don't hesitate to ask. Thank you for looking, 0scar M.

I don't think I can do that for this unit. Thanks for the offer though.
They do sell consumer type UPS units for around that price. But they will have a less than half to a third of the battery capacity, which translates to less run time overall. Good luck.

Question was asked:
Can this be setup to alert when power goes out? A: Yes, this unit comes with PowerChute software that allows for notifications to be sent out via text or email. I currently don't have mine setup this way, but I know it's possible.

These are very good units and much better then the smaller cheaper ones. It will not over heat pumps like smaller one because it produces true sine wave AC power. Well worth it for the protection and piece of mind you will get.

Laverda,
I appreciate you chiming in, and you're absolutely right, although many devices don't require a clean sine wave of energy to operate correctly; it has been my experience that providing clean power to sensitive equipment extends its life. Bottom line, all devices stand to benefit from a clean power source. Thanks again for your input.

Just as a heads up I tried selling one of these a few months ago and they shut my sale thread down saying that it wasn't reef related.

Cocoaandme,
I'm sorry to hear that, although I would agree that this is not specifically made for Fish Tanks, I'm happy to make that case that these units are great for our hobby. I'm actually keeping one unit for my 180g and selling the other two I had for each of my other 2 tanks. You really can't appreciate them until the power goes out and your pumps keep running. Twice just this summer they kicked in, and I couldn't be happier that I was prepared for the outage. I hope that mods can see that. Sorry again to hear about your post.

I also made that case but they didn't seem to be convinced. I thought using battery back ups on tanks was quite common but I guess not. Perhaps we are among the few who do.

Let's hope, for my sake, that they are in a more forgiving mood because of the holidays.
Thanks again for the heads up. ![]()

Rather than create a new thread, I'm reviving this old one.
I have one unit , asking $220.00. With summer in full swing this baby will save you in the event of a power outage. To review - Plug and play, hours of run time with most pumps (depending on wattage), tried and true for all my tanks. Email is still the best way to reach me - oscar.millan@gmail.com Thanks for looking!
