QT q- powerhead req'd or sponge+air ok?

Do I need to pull a small powerhead out of the DT (have a 160gph one) or will an airstone inside of a pre-filter sponge from my DT do fine for my QT? It's a 10 gallon.

From what I understand as long as I have the sponge/air it will provide some circulation and break up the surface/add o2. Just want to check before I find them suffocated later tonite.

p.s. So far the new oscellaris clowns (Pickles and Toki) are looking happy.

Carbon-floss is fine. Sponge is fine but clean it daily and daily test your water for: 1) salinity (top off with fresh water), 2) ammonia/nitrate: you can do a small 10% water change if you spot any ammonia; Amquel can also kibosh ammonia fast. The main thing is don't overfeed (no more than they will eat in 5 minutes, once a day)--and keep the tank and its filtration scrupulously clean: it's why I prefer carbon-floss, use and toss. Keep some white lighting grid (plastic, lighting dept, Lowes) over your qt to be sure the little fellows don't get to playing in the upwelling and jump out of the tank.
Bravo for taking care of your little guys and starting your tank the safe way!

you have to have surface aggitation though, thats why powerheads are prefered I think.

air bubbles are agitating fairly well. I'll toss that PH in too to be safe though I guess. Going through all the trouble why skimp on the effort right??

Also, I'm using Seachem Prime. That can be used to lock ammonia if I see any on the alert badge right?
