wet dry sump or live rock sump

Hey everyone

The debate is on. I'm curious to see how many say wet dry sump vs live rock sump. I've read the topic on both and still unsure of which one to go with.

Can't give sound opinion without the fish facts. Here they are:

Tank is a 150 gallon long.
Present skimmer is a seaclone 100 and upgrading to an Octopus Extreme 200 very shortly.
Pump is a quiet 1 3000 and upgrading to a Mag drive 18
Lifegard QL25 UV sterilizer
Present sump: 20 gallon wet/dry trickle filter. Upgrading to a 40 gallon breeder sump? Wet dry or live rock.

Fish stock includes the following:
1 clown triggerfish
1 niger triggerfish
1 picasso triggerfish
1 percula clown in a 3" Condalactyus Anenome
2 yellow tail damsels
3 3-stripe damsels
1 blonde naso tang
1 yellow tang
1 desjardini sailfin tang
1 powder blue tang
1 chain link eel
1 snowflake eel
2 large hermit crabs (about 2" long)
24 red legged crabs
and 1 green sea serpent starfish

Everyone is very happy. No dominant issues with any of the fish and none of the crabs are messed with at the present time. Crabs mainly roam at night primarily but often during the day as well. All fish are 2 inches or less except the 2.5in blonde naso.

Soft corals in the tank which I just got within the last week from awesome forum friends and 1 store purchase include:

half dollar size waving hands
half dollar size frogspawn coral
soccer ball size live rock with bam bam zoas all over
baseball size toadstool coral
golf ball size green zoas
5" rock of red mushrooms
5" kenya tree
2" colt mushroom on a 4inch rock

All of the coral are doing well and nothing wilting or withering.

QUESTION:
SHOULD I MAKE THE 40 GALLON BREEDER TANK INTO 3 QUADRANTS:

1. INFLOW WITH SOCK/AND PROTEIN SKIMMER
2. LIVE ROCK FILLED IN THIS QUADRANT
3. RETURN PUMP, HEATER, CARBON MESH SOCK, AND MAXI JET 600 FOR THE UV STERILIZER.

OR

WET DRY SUMP
1. 10X18X20 QUADRANT OF BIO BALLS
2. HEATER, PROTEIN SKIMMER, CARBON SOCK AND MAXI JET FOR UV.

I understand the fish will become ammonia producers and just want to plan ahead of time until I am able to get my dream tank of 300gallons.

Please let me know which one has worked better for you and which one would be better in your opinion based on my mixed reef.

Any and all suggestions and tips greatly appreciated.
1.

OMG, your tank is sooooooo overstocked! But in answer to your Q, always go with live rock. Sump should be 1/3 of your tank's volume. Eventually, you're going to need a minimum of 700g for all those dish.
