It's kind of a hard question to answer, and will depend on your rock structure, shape of your tank, etc. You'll benefit from not having any dead spots in your tank. If you have a lot of holes in your rock, you'll want enough flow to keep detritus suspended so it doesn't gather in there. If you keep the detritus suspended in the water column, it's more apt to get filtered out. Surface agitation is good, too, so you don't end up with a film up there and get good gas exchange...
So, just because you aren't keeping corals doesn't mean you don't need good flow! Plus, your fish will like it. You may just have to experiment! Maybe start with the equivalent of, say, two Koralia 3s? |

Or if you got the money go for the mp40 es They are the best by far IMHO

Sure they are the best but they're also ridiculously expensive.
Like the first reply says, its all about your tank. Start with a couple and see how it looks. No dead spots, no film. My tank is 37g, so 30"l x 24"h x 12"d and I have an aqueon 425gph circulator, an aquaclear 301 in opposite corners, plus the return from my skimmer, penguin, and uv. The surface is very turbulent and there is still good flow down at the bottom. This allows you to place corals depending on their light and flow needs as well. Plus the fish seem to like swimming into the current.
