Nuisance Algae???
Hi everyone,
I've been battling this problem for a couple of months now. What I've been doing to keep it in check is siphoning it and cutting down the lights for 3 days. Everytime I cut the lights about 80% of it goes away then I try siphoning off as much as I can of what is left. I think it's some kind of algae - it's whitish, fuzzy, gelatinous looking, and it disintegrates easily when rubbed with fingers. Question is, does anyone know exactly what it is and is there a specific clean up crew (CUC) I could use to eat it? Thanks.

I have never seen that, but I'll bump this back up to the top for you in hopes someone else has.

It does look a bit sponge-like to me, too. I'd guess that or bacteria. I don't know of a cleanup animal that'll touch either. You might be able to get rid of it with enough nutrient control, though.
