Any cheap RO/DI unit recommendation?

Hi,

I have just gotten into the hobby for about 2 months, yet have spent around $1500 on the system. I look at my system and it's not even that impressive.

Anyway, I need a RO/DI unit the cheaper the better. Is there one that you would recommend and is also affordable, around 100-150?

Thanks,

This is a good ro/di unit and is just a little bit over what you are looking to spend RO/DI unit

Just so you know , You get what you pay for most of the time. This is the one item you do not want to skimp on. If you had 20,000 spent already doesn't mater. Ro/Di is the life of your system. While your getting it get a TDS meter to check how good it's working for you.You possibly could find a unit for that price at Bulk Reef Supply. If I can put that in here. They have a You-tube page also...Good Luck

Yea Bulk Reef Supply and they have an eBay store. I got their 6 Stage Dual DI that cost $300 on the site for $202 in the eBay store.

I bought mine off of Purewater club and to tell you the truth don't see the large difference in the 'nicer' units. After the initial 6 months I ended up replacing all the filters with ones from BRS and get 3-5 TDS before DI and 0 after. As long as TDS comes out zero and DI is not burnt up too fast then your good IMO. I'd recommend a 5 stage with pressure gauge and dual TDS meter so you know when to change filters and DI.

***If I were in the market for one today I'd prolly buy the BRS units as mentioned above. They are my favorite seller for water filters, dosing, and other filteration.

This is not one of those "you get what you pay for items". Water line comes in, pushes water through membrane & canisters with filters, water goes out into container. Nothing scientific about a RO/DI unit. Focus on features, rather than brands. That BRS (link posted above) will get the job done and you will appreciate having clear canisters so you can see the condition of the filters without having to pull them to see how they look.

Totally agree with KMP. Nothing special with these units and only reason I could see investing in an 'expensive' unit is if you need a high gpd output for a very large system but would really have to be a large system if your needing more than 75-100gpd!

I just ordered one from Buckeyefieldsupply.com Russ is the man and will answer any questions you may have. He is very patient even if you're not buying anything from him.

I ordered a unit yesterday at 5:20 and at 6:01 I had email stating it had been shipped. Absolutely the best in customer service!

If you've got well water, you NEED a good system. Just an FYI in case. Why spend over a grand on your system and then balk at $400 for a decent RO/DI? I don't get it.

Anyway, it doesn't meet your criteria but I STRONGLY recommend the AquaFX Octopus which has a surge pump, microcontroller which flushes the membrane after every cycle, and an integrated TDS meter. It also achieves a 1:1 product:waste water ratio even with my relatively high TDS well water and poor household pressure (30 psi, the pump gets the system up to 70psi).
