Octopus NW 110 problem..

Hi friends, I have got an Octo 110 skimmer running for the last one month in my 25 gal system..Its lying in 10 inches of water .

The problem is it doesn't collect much in the collection cup. However, foam is formed regularly but the foam doesn't overflow into the collection cup.The inner cylinder in the collection cup is however entirely black but I want all these impurities to be collected in the cup not stick to the neck..

The water in the skimmer is at the bottom of the collection cup..please help em out.
