What in the blue blazes is THIS?

Attached to one of my pieces of man-made live rock (maricultured in Okinawa, Japan). It doesn't move, is quite hard to the touch (though appears to have some slime on it) and usually not in a position where I can take a picture of it. I was removing the rock to remove some Dictyota (you can see some of the evil stuff in this shot but I have some Algaefix on order) and thought I'd take the opportunity to take a shot, so it's out of water in the picture.



Any ideas?

It's a colonial tunicate. They're harmless filter feeders.
