Need help on id???
I'm not sure exactly what it is, but I thought it might be a type of aiptasia. It has the same reaction as an anemone while feeding or if its harassed. Here are some pics, it is smaller than a dime.
![]() ![]() I thought it could also be a type of paly Any help would be good. |

flower anemone
Looks like a small flower anemone but since there is a small one underneath maybe it is a paly. Doesn't look like aiptasia at all.

Does it have a skeleton? Did the rock come from another hobbyist? It looks like a Duncans, but that would mean that it would have a skeleton, and it would be an odd live rock hitchhiker. Can you get a photo of it from the side?

I think it's just type of palythoa also. It looks like there's few others that are closed up at the moment on the lower part of the rock as well.

The ones that were closed up were pink zoas that didn't do well. I bought the LR from a fish store. When i get home ill turn the rock and try to get a couple more pics. It's very small and reacts very quickly to touch or food. A lot faster then my palys.

Ok i just got in from work and started messing with it. Now i am convinced this is definitely not a palythoa or zoanthid. The smaller head next to it is independent and in no way attached. Also when i poke it, it completely draws up like a anemone. I took a pic of it drawn up.
Hope it helps in identifying :-) ![]() |

You might want to try posting your picture in the zoanthid forum. I'm sure somebody has probably seen that, if not something similiar before. It's worth a shot.
