I've had these Klein's for a little over a month, one in the 400 and one in the 500. I had huge aiptasia infestations and they are taking them out really fast. In my softy tank, the one Klein's totally wiped out my only acan and took the flesh off a dying brain. So, they are not good with fleshy LPS at all.

i respectfully disagree with your disagree.
All kidding aside, i have a 175g that was lightly infested with aiptasia. I feed my fish once a day. I only have 1 peppermint shrimp in it. He clears out ALL of my aiptasia. You really only need 1 shrimp that'll actually eats the anemone. if he's willing to eat, your tank will be cleared, but it's a hit or miss. Try feeding your fish once a day in the afternoon. The shrimp will feed with your fish. Then, at night, when he feels hungry, he'll go out and eat. They are nocturnal creatures, so, it'll be perfect timing for them to be hungry again.

Paul B's aiptasia zapper for the bigger ones and peppermint shrimp for the smaller ones. It worked great for me. Aiptasia were gone in less than 2 weeks.

Hey, I just got a small copperband butterfly.
Hopefully, this fish will help me with my aiptasia infestation. Will get a couple of peppermint shrimp as well; when there is shipment. |

I have had horrible luck with commercial and chemical remedies. I have tried Joes Juice, Aiptasia X, Kalk solutions, saturated calcium chloride solution, boiling water etc. Every time the tank would look better for a couple of weeks and then I would notice an explosion in the aiptasia numbers tank wide.
I have a Hawkfish that does not allow me to put Pepp shrimps in my 120. I tried and I ended up feeding the Hawk a pricey meal. I then began researching fish for the aiptasia problem. I did not like the idea of a Copperband due to the difficulty in finding one that will successfully adapt to captivity. I was nearly set on adding a Klein's Butterfly and risking LPS. I was desperate. I changed my mind and decided on adding a matted brisstle tail filefish, even with similar coral picking/sampling reputations as the Kleins. My 120 had become completely overrun with aiptasia. I have only witnessed the filefish inhale a medium aiptasia once, 3 slurps and GONE ! Looking at the tank, the aiptasia population is on a steady decline. The filefish is FAT, despite never eating food added to the tank. He is always picking pods off of the rock and seems to be eating aiptasia as well. So far no other coral picking that I can tell. No damage found and I have never seen coral picking personally. The only downside about the filefish is how timid he is. I can only observe the tank at a distance or he will hide until I am out of view. I hope he will eventually begin eating fish food added to the tank once the aiptasia are gone. The Filefish has been with me for a little over a month. Definitely not an immediate solution but there appears to be steady improvement in the reduction of aiptasia's. Joe

by far, copper banded butterfly, is the solution. In 45gal cube, I think it only need one week, at least that was my experience.

With that being said, mine is about 2.5 inches now...huge! It doesn't seem to be eating anything of value in the tank, so I let him go...others might tell you to dispose of it...I think he's cool to look at...

whenever I see any Aiptasias in my tanks, I inject TM Elimi-Aiptas directly into the stalk as opposed to into the mouth. I find that the product has a better kill rate when injected into the stalk rather than the mouth and it has worked well for me.
