New bubble magus skimmer
So, I found a pretty good deal on craigslist on a bubble magus nac6 for my 40 breeder. It is replacing an ancient oceanic skimmer. I had the old skimmer on a platform, and it did pull out some stuff, just not a lot....
I setup the bubble magus yesterday around 6pm. I played with the tube that adjusts the water level a bit. I had it too low. I adjusted it today in the am a bit to get the foam to rise up more. I still dont have any skimmate in the cup. I have it set at almost 3 on the left side. I see the bubbles sliding up the tube, but not into the cup yet. Should I slowly up the water level in it? I'm new at a decent skimmer, lol... Tank is a 40g, 2 clowns, YWG, and 3 peppermint shrimp. oh and some snails and coral... Also, I battled nitrates before, and added a mech filter(penguin 150) with polyfill, should I pull that now that I should have sufficient skimming capabilities? Thanks!

I would wait it out a few days. Sometime it just takes a few days to get skimmate to produce.

ok... I will. just dont want it to overflow, lol.... Should I pull the hob? I just got a koralia evo750 to go along with my current evo 1050... so it should more than make up for the flow loss of the penguin

I have an NAC7 and it will overflow at 3. It didn't the first few days I had it running but once it broke in it would overflow for sure. Not saying yours will, just giving you my experience.
