overflow question.... help please.

Hey guys... I want to do an overflow somewhat designed like "bean overflow" my question is.. I will have about 1500-2000 gph returned in tank.... How much water can a 1 inch pipe handle. I will put a gate valve on it but if it were to be open fully and create siphon. Can it siphon 2000 gph or do i need to go bigger. I will have emergency open channels as well..

If you have a bean animal overflow, does your pipe handle all the water.?

Thank you.
