Dead snail - I Can' Get To It
Looking at my tank from the side I can see that a small snail is dead and on the ground. I cannot get to it. Is this going to be a problem or do I need to find a way to get to it?
Thanks! |

As long as your tank isn't overly crowded already or extremely small then you should be fine. You could do a couple of small water changes over the next few days if you want and monitor your ammonia & nitrite if you're really concerned

I agree with coralfish, but have a silly question, why can't you get to it? If you can see it doesn't that mean you could probably go in to remove it? At the end of the day it will not be an issue if it is small, but things like that always worry me.

What if you try and use something with suction to get him out? Like a turkey baster.

I have a 24 gallon Nano cube. I can see the snail from the left side, bottom corner. The way the rocks are arranged (epoxied) I would have to pull the entire structure out just to get to the little guy. He is in the perfect spot....
I have 3 hermits, 3 turbo snails and a clownfish with mixed LPS corals. Thanks for the replies! |

Any way to use a turkey baster to blow it to a more reachable spot? Any kind of tongs you can reach in there with?
My guess is the 3 hermits will make quick work of it, then wear its shell LOL. |

I have lost a few hermits and a snail. I didn't do anything out of the norm. Everything in my CUC got a piece of the left over. My levels stayed in a healthy range.
And like the others stated, one of my hermits now looks like a modified nessarius HAHA!

Yup that snail is going to make a crab very very happy. Just test your water, and if anything is off have water ready to go for a water change

Well, something happened to it. I woke up this morning and two of my larger hermits were back in that area. The shell has been moved somewhere because I cannot see it anymore. I'll just check levels later to make sure they are good.
Thanks again for the help! |

Yep, hermits and bristleworms are your friends! They will solve the problem, be it snails or an unfortunate fish.
