Thanks for the reply Ron, if those black polyps are closed up zoa's...do you think they will survive? They have been looking the same for almost a week. I have the frag they are located on, up very high in the tank close to the led lights, would it possibly benefit them to be lower or in the shade? Anyone else have a comment on the possible aptasia? I think I am going to wait a bit longer to see how they develop before I go trying to erradicate them. I noticed some little featherdusters that have sprouted up today as well!

put them low in the tank and they will probly come back. I've had zoas that took 6 mos to open after being stung.

Well just some update shots, 3 days ago my Nitrates were 20ppm and today they are clearly 10ppm so it looks like things may be levelling out. Its really amazing how much "browner" the entire tank looks and its neat to see the numerous types of algae that are appearing. Definatly some green hair starting on the glass as well.

Ive basically decided that this rock is just curing at this point. I am very close to acquiring a 100 gallon setup from a local reefer and if that goes through in the next few days I will be ordering more live rock, and then this tank we be rescaped with different/choice pieces of live rock.

Those first ones did look like aiptasia. Those last ones ^ are feather dusters.

Congrats on the new tank! I have two of those myself and LOVE them!!! I downgraded from a 150 gallon and like my nanos better!

BTW, I don't run a skimmer on mine. I just do water changes and my corals (SPS, LPS, zoas, yumas, etc) do fine.

Well, I have acquired a 120 gallon complete reef system, I actually pretty much bought a guy out of the hobby. so while I am cleaning and getting ready to setup this new much bigger toy, I placed about 8 snails and 1 cup of sand from the tank I just bought into my still cycling jbj 28 gallon tank. After about 4 days the snails have now laid eggs on the glass, and have done noticible work on the GHA. I have also noticed tiny bristle worms that I assume came from the cup of sand I took out of the other tank. here is a FTS as of yesterday. My phone seems to capture the corraline color a little better than my canon does.

I have also received a zapper from Paul B. So I will be attacking the couple aptasia's I have later this evening.

Can you post another pic of the "aptasia" before you zap them? there are 4 or 5 things they still could be, cup corals, curly q's, rock flowers just to name a few, in my experience Aptasia have always had a slight brown/gold color to them so whenever I see a clear one I second guess the automatic screaming of nuke them until I am sure.
