I am making and sump and want to know what type of silicone i could use for the baffles.
Would this work and be safe? http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1...atalogId=10053 Is there anything to look for in a silicone that makes in safe for aquarium use? Thank. Critofer |

Everyone was telling me the GE Silicone for windows and doors and to make sure it said 100% silicone. They ALL say 100% silicone so since I was a little iffy, I went with the DAP aquarium kind. When I built my sump and redid the seals on my 150 I used AGA's brand of aquarium silicone. Works great. I have yet to have 150 gallons of saltwater in my living room.

I used Home Depot's GE 1 100% silicone without problem. In the back, the print should say "NSF approved for incidental food contact" or something similar. Home Depot also makes the GE 2 silicone which you should avoid, as it contains mold inhibitors.
