Question What type of Silicone?

I am making and sump and want to know what type of silicone i could use for the baffles.

Would this work and be safe?

http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1...atalogId=10053

Is there anything to look for in a silicone that makes in safe for aquarium use?

Thank.

Critofer

No idea about the one you posted, but I just built my own sump and bought my silicone at Home Depot. I bought this one:

Says 'AQUARIUM SILICONE' right on it. lol Can't go wrong with that. Everyone was telling me the GE Silicone for windows and doors and to make sure it said 100% silicone. They ALL say 100% silicone so since I was a little iffy, I went with the DAP aquarium kind.

Good luck.

When I built my sump and redid the seals on my 150 I used AGA's brand of aquarium silicone. Works great. I have yet to have 150 gallons of saltwater in my living room.

I used Home Depot's GE 1 100% silicone without problem. In the back, the print should say "NSF approved for incidental food contact" or something similar. Home Depot also makes the GE 2 silicone which you should avoid, as it contains mold inhibitors.

+1 I have always used GE Silicone I and confirm that it does not have mold resistant (I always find the latter and then make sure the one that I am buying does not have the antifungal addition).

I would worry that this DAP is not reef safe as it specifically states that it is mold resistant (additive may kill corals/inverts).

I have used this in tanks before with no problem... I've used it on my current tank that I resealed before I started it over a year ago. I think all silicone is by nature mold and mildew resistant... I think...
