Itty bitty teeny weeny hydroids?
I took pics but found a clearer one online - they look a lot like this:
They are about the size of the period at the end of this sentence, maybe slightly bigger. I have eleventy bililon on the front glass of my tank. I've read they are probably harmless and unlikely to grow into big ones. Is that true? The 100g tank is pretty much all theirs - no fish, etc. Here's my pic:

I think you've got it about right. Just like many other (almost) pests, they will self limit soon enough.
