Fixing small scratches on glass
Guys,
Any of you've tried using 3M's Scratch Remover to fix small/light scratches on your glass (dry side, of course)? http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3...ght_Scratches/ I've got a few very small scratches that I'd like to get rid of but didn't want to risk making it worse. Thanks! |

i used to work at a glass company and they used a wax compoud with a buffer and it took some scratches out of ht eglass dependingo n how deep the scratches are. if you dont want to do it yourself, call a local glass shop and see if they can come out and do it or have any tips to help

That product would be useless. Look up cerium oxide. You can purchase it from a glass shop. There should be online tutorials on how to use it.
Word of warning; it took 3+ hours to remove two tiny scratches out of my tank. They probably occupied a 2x2 inch square. |

Thanks - nonetheless I'll give the 3M a try on a piece of glass from my old aquarium, the scratch on my DT is very small, barely visible, I hope it'd be able to fix it.

Acrotrdco, i recently used cerium oxide to remove scratches from my tank. I used a random orbit sanded with a 220 grit pad to sand down the scratch. Then i went over it with a orbital finisher and cerium oxide. Works well on small scratches.
Thats 3m scratch remover will do nothing to glass. Its made for removing scratches in a cars clear coat and it doesn't even do that very well. |
