Any feedback on LED par30/38 actinic supplemental lighting?

Hi,

I am trying to see if I need to build an LED actinic supplemental strip for my 210 gallon tank, or can I just use 3 PAR38/30 royal blue bulbs to shine down on the corals while the actinics are on.

A friend recently brought over a 10"x10" 100 - .60watt blue led bulb setup and when he shined it down on my tank, I had colors I never knew where there. Now, I've got the serious bug for LED supplementation.

Will the par38 bulbs (3 of them) work if I shine them down on each 24" section?

Thanks for any feedback!

Michael

that may work if you can get them with a mid optic like a 60-80 degree. Or you have to mount them higher than you would probably like. Otherwise you will have 3 blue spots.

Try ReefBrites. They will cover the entire tank at a better cost savings. More uniform coverage than Par38s.

Thank you. I will definitely look into those.
