Sorry for semi-bashing the 160 and not being around to explain why. The cone replace a Vertex IN 250 which was super thick acrylic and very heavy. The SWC cone seemed very light to me (thin acrylic). When I took the skimmer out of the box, the volute wouldn't fit in the hole in the acrylic because the who body was misaligned with the pump. Took it apart and everything fit well after that.

I can tell you that I think the Cone 160 is dead silent. I've now had this skimmer for about two weeks and I think its properly broken in and is pulling tons of skimmate. I had regrets the first week (like not buying a Super Reef Octopus cone), but after seeing what its pulling out the last two days I'm impressed. Still think its pretty flimsy though.

Thanks for the clarification. Not sure the 160 cone would skim any better with thicker acrylic. I'm glad it's working out for you.
