chaeto hitchiker

So I purchased a fistsized ball of chaeto and there are these really small almost transparent critters flapping around... almost like a stingray.
Just wondering if anyone knows what they are, my powerheads killed most of them - but there are still some on my refugium..
any idea? they are shaped like teardrops id say they are 3 mm big and flat.

probably amphipods. I'm pretty sure you can't get Chaeto without.

Look up copepods/amphipods (beneficial organisms) and flatworms (bad). Based on your description it sounds like flatworms.

I just had a case of flatworms in my tank. Mine looked like the ones in the video below. I used Flatworm eXit to kill them suckers. Just be sure to suck out as many as you can before you treat the tank and as they are dying to reduce the toxins released from them dying.

Some wrasse are supposed to eat them, but they can get out of control pretty quickly if not taken care of.

I would say flatworms. Try to remove as many as possible because they can become a nuissance. Many wrasses will eat them but you don't want to be putting a wrasse in the fuge. If you suck them up with a small hose syphon it works well.
