Flame Hawk ?

So i got a flame hawk, drip acclimated for 2 hours or so. put him in the tank and he found a rock to perch on. well come today he is swimming up the sides of the glass and keeps resting on the powerhead. Is this normal for these guys? he doesnt seem like he is stressed, he is eating and what not. He is my fav fish and just want to make sure he is ok.

Thanks.

that is normal for these guys. If you find him stuck to the power head --then that's something to be worried about

Mine will swim the glass in the corners of my tank, up and down repeatedly for a while, usually in the corner where I feed.

Mine dose the same thing I've had him for about 6 years and he never gets boring. Always has energy to do loops around my powehead and just perches right on top every loop it's funny great fish. Enjoy that little bugger

If the shrimp is small enough, there is a high probability that they will eat them.

Yes, they do. But they are great fish if you can do without shrimp. By the way, your fish is "begging" when he swims up to where you feed.

It will likely work fine. Flame Hawks can not catch pistol shrimp because they are guarded by the goby.

I have a ywg/tiger pistol combo in with a flame hawk in my 28 gallon nanocube. They've been together for about 8 months now and the hawkfish never even notices the pistol shrimp.

They are called hawkfish because of that perching behavior.
