Need advice on mixed reef
Maybe mixed reef is not a good idea at all.
It's all started with the idea to get few pcs Sps frags to give it a try, they doing great at the first month, and then color start fading, blenching. 3 months old tank 70g Dk+30g Sump with fuge 5% WC everyweek 4ml coral snow when WC 2 drops marine snow twice a week Water test every week the day after WC Ammonia undetectable Nitrate undetectable SG 1.024 Ph 7.8-8.4 Ca 400-450 KG 10-11 MG 1300-1325 Looks stable to me. I've tried Move it upper(may cause stress?) Running phosguard for a week Change carbon(3 months) Didn't see too much improvement, might be over-feed? And suggestion? Looks like the more action I took the more stress I did to them.
I moved them around,I break off the dead part and re-attached to rock. I blow the skin of the Sps to keep it clean. Now I decided to not touching them at all and change my bulbs,it's about 6 months old now. |

Don't have a po4 test kit,as I said,my fuge did pretty good job and I don't have algae issue,I am assuming po4 is not that high, But I still ran a phosguard for a week just in case, nothing improved. Sad

Not sure if you have enough lighting for SPS, I don't have SPS but I know most of them need a lot of light.

Carbon should be changed at least monthly, especially with SPS, toxins like scented candles and air freshener can even lead to RTN.
Your parameters look good, so I would look at lighting, I'm not sure 4 36" T5's above a 70 gal tank are adequate for SPS. |
