algae

hello, my 35 g saltwater tank is slowly being overtaken by algae. i don't think its hair algae, it appears more in airy clumps. would reducing the lighting help? i'd to see everything turning green. even the sand bed is beginning to develop green and golden puffy spots. help

Please provide some more information regarding age of tank, type of filtration, amount of livestock, etc.

If you have pictures it might help. In any case, aglae develops when there are excess nutrients to feed off of. A water change is probably the first step, but that won't treat the underlying cause.

Cool Algea?

Hi Brosie ; Try doing 10 gallon water changes every week to get rid of the algea and lower the built up nutrients.. Keep us Posted . and Welcome to Reef Central !!!!

What kind of water do you use for your water changes? Start using RO/DI if you aren't currently.
