Protein Skimmer needed to cure live rock?

Hello,

I have a new 180 gallon tank and have ordered 130 pounds of live rock.

Will I need a protein skimmer to cure the live rock? Or can I just rely on water changes and if so, how often?

PS. Is this a hard process? Would I be better off just ordering pre-cured live rock?

Thanks.

i like to skim as it will remove the organic waste faster and help reduce the bioload so the rock will cure faster .

You can speed up the cycle a bit with at least some cured live rock. If you can find someone local to trade a piece of rock or two and some sand with that may help to seed your system.
