euroreef es5-2 not skimming
I set up my new skimmer about 2 days ago and its not sending bubbles up the neck. The bubbles stop about halfway up the neck. do you think its still breaking in?
Also, the slide pipe (for water level adjustment) is all the way out. I can't pull it up anymore or it'll fall off. TIA for your help

Try boiling some RO water and then put the air line tube inside it and let the pump suck the water through it this should clean it up. Have you added any chemicals to the tank this will cause the bubbles not to rise up, also most foods will also do that.

its a new skimmer to me but i washed it with vinegar and hot water and dried it.
The next day i set it up. Its been running since monday and its not really skimming. I thought it should atleast be up to the cup. The only chemicals i'm running is gfo and chemi pure

That is a great skimmer I had one on my old 55 gallon tank easiest skimmer I every used. It seems to me something is causing the skimmer to not function correctly, either it is not getting enough air something is wrong with the impeller or a chemical in the water. One time I found a have dried up crazy glue tube in my tank it was causing my skimmer to go nuts.

im gonna look when i get home but would that cause it to be low. i thought you should be able to overflow your skimmer if you wanted. Its in about 10" of water. would that have anything to do with it?

i run mine in 7 inches of water, sometime you have to stick a small nail down the hole were airline is connected to clear out salt creep. I do this once a week and take off skimmer cup once a week also and clean it. If you got the riser tube raise it until your foam raise to upper part of skimmer cup and see if that helps. I bought gate valve mod kit from premium aquatics to control the water level in the skimmer better.
post pics of your skimmer running so we can see what might be going on.

That's a good idea. I didn't clean the airline tube as it was already on the pump. I'll just cut a new piece and try that . I'll have pics later

Okay thanks. I'm gonna try this when I get home. Someone else said it might be too deep in the water. They said raise it up. Do u happen to remember how extended your pipe was. Mines all the way out

you have to measure your outflow pipe i think mine is 1.25 which is 1 1/4 inch.
you have to check serial number on your skimmer, there are stickers with serial numbers on them or you can call them to check.

okay, well i raised up the skimmer about as high as i could using eggcrate. I got the bubbles up over the collection cup bottom line but almost to the top of the cup. I'm gonna let it sit for an hour or two and see what happens but i'm out of room otherwise it'll be hitting the bottom of the tank.

well, it raised the water level a little but not much. I ended up sucking out a few inches of water and dropped the level to 7" with the skimmer. STILL NOTHING! It ended up staying in the same exact spot and didn't move. This is getting old fast and i don't know how much longer i can go without a skimmer on my tank.
