potters wrasse help!

I added a potters wrasse to my 150 gal reef tank about a week ago and the small pacific blue tang nipped almost all of his fins completely off. Now all he can do is swim in circles upside down. I put him in a small plastic hampster/hermit crap tank inside of the 150gal tank so he wouldn't get eaten. He has been in the small tank for 3 days and he still has all his color and eats what he can reach when I put food by him. Is he unable to swim right side up because most his fins are gone and if so how long do they take to grow back? Do you think he stands a good chance as long as he keeps eating? Anything else I can do? These guys are hard to find in IL!

Unfortunately he is most likely a goner.
You might want to put a piece of pvc or something in there so the fish can hide and feel secure. As long as it is eating you might get lucky but with that much damage done the chance of bacterial infection is pretty good.
If you have a quarantine/hospital tank some antibiotics might help.

man that is sad to hear, they are such beautiful fish. only thing you can do is keep him isolated and eating and hope for the best.

in the future you may want to use an acclimation box when adding a fish like that to the tank.
