Hi,

I just took this creature out from my tank. I believe it came with the rocks I got from another tank. I wanted to know what it is and if it is safe to have him in the tank or should I get rid of him.

Thanks,

Is it considered reefsafe? Anything special I need to know about it?

yes, it is reef safe. It will probably hang out in/under the rockwork until feeding time. It can do fine on leftovers, so no special care really. They will occasionally steal chunky food from slow corals, so if you target feed, give some to the star first.
