newbie lighting questions

hello. im looking to upgrade my lights like tomorrow.. i have a 120 gal tank with 4 inch live sand and about 50lbs live rock and another 50lbs base rock i have 7 small fish and some anenamies so far have t5s and was wanting the marineland reef capable leds so i can add coral.. any one know how the leds are or should i go different i was going to get 2 36inch with three light settings 2 day and lunar.. are they worth the money? should i buy them? or different?

You can add corals with just t-5s. Just be sure of the lighting requirements of each coral you buy, stick to the softies. LED is really expensive, I want to change to LED but there is so much conflicting opinions on LEDs but the stats say they would work great even for the high lighting demands of the SPS coral.

marineland reef leds are not for a reef type setting. Might get lucky and be able to keep a softies or two.

If your just keeping softies t5 are the way to go IMO. I have a friend who has LED's and honestly I cant see what the difference really is, except the cost! You can get a lot more wattage in a t5 for close to the same money that you'd pay for LED's. Current has some LED add ons, maybe you can utilize this. Here's the link, good luck!
