Water circulation
Hello, Im not new to saltwater but failed on my previous tank so im giving it another shot. Well I have a Biocube 29 Im going to setup tomorrow and wondering how much circulation I would need in my tank. Im looking for suggestions on the best pump to use. I am going to buy a Koralia, so which should i get for this tank so there isnt too much flow

alot depends on what type of corals you want. I go by 10-20x turnover is low flow, 20x-40x is med. flow, and 40x and up is high flow. but you will also want to make sure the flow is getting around the whole tank and picking up ditrus so it don't settle on the sand and rocks.
IMO 2 smaller powerheads are better than one big one.

well i have only stock lighting so from what ive read im can only have softies and lps and mushrooms. so based on that what kind of circulation would i need? im guessing medium flow? i had considered getting 2 nanos...the smaller ones

Medium to low flow is fine, I would probably add a Koralia 2 to the setup and stop there.

1 koralia 2 would probably be enough if your only keeping polyps/mushroom/etc.

ok got it. koralia 2. Will be getting it. The tank isnt setup yet but thats my plan tomorrow. With having to wait for the tank to cycle, should i get it now? I wasnt sure if there will be any benefit to the tank cycling by having the circulation pump in

Bacteria needs oxygen and flow to stay healthy so the bacteria on your LR needs a powerhead to colonize the rocks.

Ok got it. Sorry. Im trying to fill in on info I didnt have on my previous experience in trying to do a salt tank.
And it also help with reducing algae and waste? I am going to have a skimmer and some filter floss so im assuming with the correct flow it will help get the debris to be removed from the tank? And also i read it helps coral but I wont be getting there for a little bit |
