Question Copepods in week 2?

My tank is only 13 days old today and on my inspection of the lr life coming out and about I noticed that I have a pretty hefty population of copepods on the back sides of the glass. By hefty I mean at least 200-300 of them. I don't have any in my 10gallon that I've had for two years so I'm assuming they came with my new live rock. I feel like I've missed the cycle happening too. On day 8 I got a tiny ammonia spike of .25. It is now at 0 as are my nitrites and nitrates. I used new live sand, live sand from my 10 gallon, new cured live rock and live rock from my 10 gallon to set it up along with a filter cartridge in the filter I ran through my 10s filter for about 2 weeks before setting this 29 up. It's not possible to NOT cycle..that I know but all the bristle stars, bristle worms, copepods, and coral that came on the lr are doing ridiculously well; can I expect another spike that starts the "real" cycle or did I just somehow manage by without too much trouble?

I haven't moved everything over yet. I did about half the sand and half the rock. I have about 15 pounds of rock that was new. I don't even have any livestock in there except for the worms and stars that came in the rock naturally. I was worried about moving everything over too soon and a cycle killing it.

you get false readings this early in a cycle, wait 2 more and run your tests again

Thanks. I might try moving some more rock over in a couple days. I'll try retesting also about then.

keep an eye on it.

i let my saltwater run with some Biospira and crushed coral for almost a month. when i was ACTUALLY ready to buy stuff i removed the crushed coral and put in live sand and live rock and my cycle was finished in 2 days from then, my nitrates were over 10 in under a week and ive never seen ammonia in any test

there might not be too much die off which would be why you have the pods (dont think that means it's alright to go off and buy a mandarin or something). but it could still fluctuate

I don't know that I ever want a mandarin due to their picky ways. I'm probably just sticking with the O. clown and cleaners I have in the 10 and really not adding much else except maybe another clown and a bigger cleaner package.
