Cree XP-G color

Hi guys,

A quick question.. I know the LED color spectrum changes based on how you dim the lights. The Cree XP-G (R2) cool whites are rated at 5000K. (http://ledsupply.com/creexpg-w354.php). If you run this LED at the rated 1000mA, will the color be 5000K?

I doc sheet is confusing (http://ledsupply.com/docs/XLampXP-G-1.pdf) but it appears if the LED is run at 350mA produces 5000K? Assuming they run at 5000K color, what happens to the color if you dim them.. Does the color get lower like 3000K?

I signed in to Reef Central tonight specifically wanting an answer to that question. I know I am being redundant but I want to know:

Say you have a particular LED, BIN number, etc.
And the specs say the LED is 8,000 to 10,000 K temperature... or 4,000 to 6,000 K.

Does the Kelvin go up or down with changes in amperage?????
I would greatly appreciate any help with this inquiry.

Yo

Been told this:

"Color temperature has nothing to do with amperage, the LED will put out the same color temp regardless of how hard you're running the LEDs."

"They aren't able to produce LEDs with an exact temperature, so there's always a range. Typically it doesn't vary too much and we end up with something in the 6-7k range, but LEDs are "grown" so they can't make them with exact Kelvin temperatures."
