clue less here...

My tank biocube 29- almost a year...

so far all corals but frog spawn is not really OPENING (about half size open)..

All parameter is good , *78.8 but noticed ammonia .25 by API test...something dead?
tough to read color match chart..

Last night it was crispy clear but this morning it's VERY little cloudy..

What's possible ?

tips or advice will be great..

Thanks
Jake

PS i read info about brittle stars might caused this to spawnings ??

If its cloudy its most likely a bacterial bloom due to the ammonia. Has anything changed or did you do anything different lately? What are your other parameters testing out to?

Try doing a water change to help out and clear out amonia.

Cheers,
Henry

Like mentioned above, did you move any rocks/corals around or perhaps stir up your sandbed in any way during your last water change? Maybe clean your filter sock or foam insert? If so, and this is indeed a bacteria bloom, your best bet IMO is to just leave everything alone until the water clears up on it's own. I wouldn't even do a water change. Just let nature take it's course

Are you running any charcoal? This will help clear water too. I had a similar issue with corals several years back... started checking and dosing iodine. Consider checking your iodine level (should be 0.06). Also, what lighting are you using and how long have the bulbs been in? Could be you need better lighting or a bulb change.

If it doesn't clear up tomorrow don't panic. Sometimes it takes a few days, sometimes it can take up to a week or more. Everybody's tank is different. As long as your not seeing any of your fish/invertebrates trip out in any way then I wouldn't worry about it too much. Be patient. Good luck.

Why do you seem shocked that his calcium is at 8? According to the article, normal is between 7-11. The OP's params seem spot on to me.

To the OP: don't be afraid to do a 50% water change and wait a couple days to see what happens.

Was it cloudy after adding the calcium? With Alk at 8, and Calcium at 420, you're spot on, perhaps you just dosed a little too much calcium and the excess precipitated.....you need those two in a ratio, if one gets to far out of whack, you can get a cloud.

It was like 2 days after dosed..

My ph tends drop to 7.8 at night then light on- 8.0 ..ph never close to 8.2 and up.. I'm tryin to get it to 8.2 I just left rear lid open for fresh air..

If 8alk then what should I expect cal # at?

Mg is 1320 as per salifert test kit

I always want my tank target at 450cal , alk 9 and mg 1350 I have few Sps, Lps and softies.

Uses esv salt mix.

Thanks

Your parameters seem to be in check & everything is looking good, it wouldn't really make any since to me to change any water right now. Sometimes the best thing to do is nothing at all.
