Question My GF and her buying addiction...

My gf was at a type of flea market today and texted me and said she bought some dry corals. She said the stand she bought them from sold only things such as sea shells, corals, sandollars, and starfish(all dead I am assuming). I told her I am very hesitant on putting them in and to just put them in a bucket of water to soak until I get home from work so I can check them out. My question is how do I know if these are safe to put in? I dont want them to be diseased or exposed to anything such as copper or bleach or anything else. Can I just let them soak in the water and then test the water after a day or so? What should I test/look for? Suggestions?

I wouldn't put them in your tank. You have no idea what could be on them and it's not worth the risk. They'd probably make nice decorations for a book shelf or something though

Craft project for the GF... glue them all over the tank stand or something. But beware, your tank stand could become a 'victory garden' of sea-life remnants, or the center piece for a new country-aquatic-farmhouse decor theme integrated in color coordinated fashion amongst chartreuse and fuchsia flowers and puffy mauve colored fish shaped pillows
