Question about live rock...
Last night I took a piece of my live rock out of my tank, the biggest piece. Now, I have a 10g tank, so it's not very big. Everything seems fine. I took it out to clean it, had a lot of hair algae on it, however.. I forgot it outside! Overnight, up until now!
I picked it up and decided I want it to go back into my aquarium. I threw it in a bucket of old saltwater. Is it a stupid idea to add this back to my aquarium, after 12+ hours of sunlight exposure? |

Okay, so it's safe to assume it would send my tank through a cycle again?

Live Rock?
What do you have in your tank that would suffer from another cycle ? If there is a friend that could hold onto your livestock , you could put it back in and recycle. You could also check perameters after adding rock and do small water changes every day until its over. Maybe 1 gallon per day.

I don't know anybody with a SW tank, lol.
Well, I have a clownfish, an engineer goby, and a yellow clown goby. As well as some inverts, a brittle starfish, ETC. My tank is established but this rock looks good. I threw it in a bucket of old saltwater that I siphoned out of my tank last night. When would it be safe to add it? It's nothing big, maybe 1.5lbs.. |
