Mag pumps

Not sure if this is where I need to ask this but, I have a mag 12 and a 9.5 some where I read you are supposed to increase the output to 1" from 3/4. I am in the planning stage of a new 40 breeder. Also I would assume it is ok to increase the input size to 1" without problem or could it cause cavitation
Thanks for the input

1" would be the smallest I would use. Go bigger if you want/need more flow.
