Question Bubble-Tip Anemone

I'm seeking advice for a Bubble-tip Anemone. It hitchhiked in on some Live Rock I purchased recently. I'm new to the hobby so any advice is gladly accepted. Thank you gurus of TBRC.

Chris

This is a pic of it in my tank today, compared to what I've seen online It doesn't look very healthy...

From the picture it looks like it is bleaching which is not good, I agree with Jbax see if you can post a clearer picture in the anemone forum and you will get some good advise on how to try and save it.
Good Luck

your tank is prolly spank in the middle of a cycle and the bta can't handle it. from my understanding Anemones don't do well with new tank conditions.

If that is a bubbletip (hard to say in that pic) then it is obviously bleached and starving (as evidenced by the number and size of the tentacles).
If you intend to keep it then you should try to give it small portions of mysis every couple of days. You don't want any large food items so that the anemone can digest them easily. Until it gets any zooanthellae back, direct feeding will be the only way it gets any energy.
If possible, you should give it someone else to rescue since your tank is most likely still cycling, but that is up to you.

I agree, it's bleached & lost most of it's zooanthellae; & being in a month old tank that's still cycling is stressing it out more. IMO, best course of action would be to let someone with a well established system nurse it back to health, if that's even possible at this point. I love anemones & would be happy to try for you.

I'm definately open to giving it to a good home, if anyone wants it. I can also bring it to the Grand opening of Salt Lifers if this is better for anyone.

I'd be happy to meet you at Salt Lifers this coming weekend & nurse the anemone for awhile. In the meantime, try feeding it small pieces of raw shrimp or some mysis every other day.

A 25% water change might perk his spirits up. If you can't do that quickly, I'd assume you have some ammonia or nitrite in the water due to the new rock. Some fresh carbon would also help clean up the water until you can get the 'nem to better quarters. Don't give up on it before it starts to get gooey parts. The original pic looked bleached and stressed but very salvageable. Lucky pickup on your live rock. Hope you can revive it.

Just noticed you have several tanks. Why not move it to another if it doesn't reattach?

The tank it's in is the oldest I have, but I found someone nearby that is going to try and save it

Where are you in Pasco County? I might be able to get over there tomorrow after 4pm.

Sorry Bill, It tried to eat my goby so I let a friend take it and see if he could heal it. I know it was just trying to survive but I didn't have the resources at hand to deal with it. It was probably a lost cause anyway...Sorry again.

No worries...If it tried to eat your goby, I doubt it's a lost cause... Good luck!
