LX1000 HOB issues

I am on my second pump. The first failed after two weeks, completely stopped. The one in the tank now is starting to "cycle gulp" air which is what the first one did before it died. No idea what to think.

When working, this skimmer is amazing in production and actually very quiet. I have mine in my kitchen. My wife loves it when it works well.

I am really perplexed, tried Tunze (too much in tank space), tried Aeroforce (decent skimmer with underpowered pump), and now this Octopus.

I really want this skimmer to work out....great performance, great customer service, chinese pump issues, general frustration.

i got the black one two months ago. imo, i wasnt impressed. the pump was very very loud. a lot of vibration noise. i called coralvue and the lady told me it takes 2-3 weeks to break in. after 2 months, it is still loud and vibrating. also, how does one remove the pump from the body? it is held by three screws which i was able to loosen, but there isnt a way for the pump to come out.

Still happy with the skimmer, yes. I can't say for sure that it won't overflow on your floor, but it hasn't on mine yet. I've had some anomaly skim days where all off a sudden the skimmate will get super wet and clear. The only thing I've seen happen is it fills up the cup to the top of the riser tube and then the level stops rising. Once or twice it foamed out of the air holes on the cup lid but not much. The foam just dried to the top/side of the skimmer but I didn't see anything on my floor.

I also find myself pulling the pump out every 10 or so weeks now to clean the venturi. I notice a decrease in performance after this amount of time from calcium buildup because my doser outputs right next to it. After a good cleaning works perfect again. My pump isn't loud at all nor does it vibrate excessively. It did take a couple weeks for it to quiet down though when bought new.

Thanks Crank, Trying to figure which one to get. I only have a 29 but I'd like to get a good one.
