Metal stands
I am going to be upgrading to a custom rimless 80g tank in a few months. I am considering stand options, and I would like to have a lot of room underneath for the sump (29g, 30"L x 12"W) as well as reactors, dosers, etc.
I know I could do a wood stand, but I would like to look into metal (iron?) stands. I see them on larger tanks and they have a lot of room under them. Do people build/weld these? Or do they buy them? Are they expensive? Where can you buy them? If you can build them, is it difficult/expensive? Any good guides out there on how to do it? The 80g will be 48" L and 24" W Thanks! |

I've owned many metal/iron stands in my time. I don't know, they just don't look "nice" compared to wooden stands. Especially once they start to rust.

I'm not really in it for the looks. If I need too, I can stain some plywood and cover the metal part up, but it would get annoying having to move it to get into the tank.

If they are up around $200, I am just going to do a wooden one with 2x4's. My 20H stand cost me around $30 haha. It's not the prettiest thing, but it works.

I have an aluminum stand for my 40 breeder. I have only had it for a few months but i love it so far. There is a ton of room underneath 40 breeder display and 40 breeder sump. I got lucky and got it for free.
