heater placement

I have a 120G predrilled and put my heater in the overfow. Does anyone know if this could cause heating issues with my tank or is it ok? Ant feedback would be appreciated!

In a 120 2 heaters would be better for more consistent water temp. Also not sure about adding it in the overflow but doesn't sound right.

Im cofused because some people have said it worked good fo them it is a 500 watt proheat! up for any advice or options where to put it. It fits better in the overflow the in the proflex model 4 sump.

The problem I could see with heaters in the overflow is overheating the water in the overflow when the pumps are turned off (besides the obvious lack of room). The residual heat in the heaters might transfer to the small volume of water in the overflow. That in itself is not that big of a deal, but you would likely see some fairly hot water enter the sump/refugium when the pumps are turned back on. I've always kept my heaters in the sump. Two heaters at half the required wattage is a good choice, it helps reduce the risk of a tank crash when a heater sticks in the on position.

I run two 300 watt heaters for my 180 display. According to the makers, I should only need 1, but 2 is better. Mine are placed on the bottom of the sump where the water comes in from the returns and before it hits the return pump. So basically any water going through the pump has been passed over the heaters.

I have my heaters in the corner overflows, one in each corner. Works fine for me.

I have mine in the overflow in my 75 gal. it does take awhile to get to the average temp at what you are looking for, but once there it will evenly heat. works like a charm

I just got the two 150 jagers for my 60g cube. they dont fit that great in my sump so I am looking at the overflor as well...

IMO the only issue that cound ever arrise is if my durso becomes dislodged and the level in the overflow bottoms out. However that would raise my sump level and my float switch on the apex will kill the heaters...At least i plan on programming that into the apex...
