The return pump? Yes, you can tee off the return. Be sure to put a ball valve on the input reactor line so you can control the flow.

Only problem I see is the ball valve might not lower the rate enough since most return pumps are big. If going this route I would consider a gate valve. I always reserve ball valves for on and off and gate valves for flow adjustments.

See this post for people who've T'd off the return to feed their BRS reactors.

You should be able to get the ball valves but I believe the Home Depot and Lowe's gate valves will not work. The internal shaft has been reported to corrode and stop working with saltwater. Try one of our many sponsors. They should be able to get what you need.

A point to consider, but if you tee off the main with a 1/2" ball valve, you should be able to have enough control over the flow. While a gate valve is nice, it's also probably going to be twice the cost.
Did your reactor come with all the fittings to connect it to a maxijet? My BRS came with both the connector to attach to a maxijet, and a ball valve to control the flow.
The more I think about it, by the time you buy all the fittings you'll need to make it work, you'll probably spend more than if you just bought a maxijet to run it...

i havent bought the brs reactor. but i do have a maxijet. i will check the brs site. i will try this first, and then teeing it off with a ball valve and i will buy a gate valve if the flow is still to strong

My return pump is to strong, so I already had it Td off back through the refugium using a ball valve. I put the reactor T before that one. I control the flow with the ball valve that came with it.

may just be my naval training and the fact that our valves are literally Massive....but ball valves are supposed to have better throttling capabilities and gate valves for their isolation and low head loss. ive always used this and done fine. yet again this may not be something that transfers from
foot wide piping to 1/2''
