ati

would a 24 inch 6 bulb ati light be enough for a 40 gallon breeder mixed reef?

bulbs consist of

ATI 1 purple plus 3 ATI blue plus 1 ATI Aqua blue 1 UV pure actinic

Plenty of light.

I used a 4x24w ATI Sunpower over a 40 breeder and had to keep the LPS and softies on the bottom. Some even had to be shaded.

The PM only has about a 5-10% gain in performance. And since you're going with 6 bulbs, the PM will only have 1 more fan. If you're looking to save a few $, take a look at the SP. I have both fixtures and I personally like the looks of the PM over the SP.

Did you decide on bulbs?

It's all about personal preference. That sounds like a decent combo, try it out and see how you like it. You might want to stick with them if they're only 3 weeks old. That pure actinic bulb isn't going to put out a lot of PAR, but those other bulbs do, so you should be okay. The pure actinic is the only one I would consider changing. If you want a little more blue, get another Blue Plus. If you want a little more white, get another Aquablue Special. You may even want to try a GE 6500K. If you're going to order bulbs online, it doesn't make sense to pay shipping for 1 bulb at a time. If the current combo looks okay, I'd stick with them until it's time to change them. Then you can experiment with different combos.

Try 4 B+ and 2 P+ for a 20 k look.

I will have to do that. How many bulbs do you think it would take to light a 48 x 24 x 18 tank, The 24 inch being the width its a 90 shallow

I like this combo too.
The aquablue makes it very white IMO, not bad or like 10k look, but very bright white, more than I expected.

Im pretty new to t5's. However, I did have a current nova extreme on my last 40 breeder, seemed to do alright. and then I have a current nova extreme pro 8 bulbs on a 75 gallon but sold it and went to a different tank

Depends on what you're keeping and your aquascaping. But for LPS, you can get away with a 4x54w but for SPS, I know folks who have a 6x54w. I personally, have a 8x54w on my 60x30x20. I have to keep LPS out to the side or in shaded areas.
