So lucky me comes to findout the overflow is leaking where the bulkhead is attached under the tank. I was told this can be tightened? I hope...
So for now I built a PVC self syphoning tank to run into my sump and try to get some water going in this thing. Water still a little murky but I imagine its because its not filtering yet right? Is there any chemicals besides stress coat I should add? Fish status: They still seem just fine, swimming against the powerhead and hiding in their rocks. Corals seem okay too (for living in a bucket) lol Anything I should add to the fish tub? |

I would get the leak fixed sooner rather than later. I understand your eagerness to get going, but fixing a leak on a filled tank is going to be a nightmare. At worst (assuming the glass isn't cracked) you will need a new bulkhead. At best you will just need to remove it, make sure to clean off any salt creep, and place it back on nice and tight.

Hope all is going well. How many fish are in the tub and how many gallons is it? You may start to get an ammonia buildup soon if its too crowded. Changing out some of the water will help that. Also keep in mind that as water evaporates salinity goes up. Id check it with a refractometer each day and add a little ro/di if necessary to keep it stable. Any luck stopping the leak?

LEAK UPDATE: Silicone, complete fail. Waiting on my buddy to bring me a wrench to get it off, COMPLETELY and thoroughly cleaning it. I built my PVC overflow last night and have it running to my sump and protein skimmer and back up through but the waters really cloudy? bubbly? salty? idk tell me what you think?
Heres my PVC I built to go into the sump Heres the return pump going into my tank ( looks like bubbles? ) i dont know.. And heres my sump, where the protein skimmer comes out and the pump returns it. The water looks soapy? but I had no soap in it! ( I'm not good with uploading pics yet sorry! ) |
