par38 40 degree optics

I was looking into getting this for my tank (8g 12x12x12) http://www.nanotuners.com/product_in...roducts_id=698

I noticed it only had a 40 degree lens while most of the others seem to have 60-80... I was wondering how this would look, would one be enough to cover the tank in light? I've never used these before so I'm not really sure what to expect. Also if someone could give me a link to a good fixture for these or recommend something that'd be a great help. Thanks

I think he meant the bulb extenders not a bulb. Many standard fixtures will block the heat sink which is at least theoretically not good for the bulb. I used extenders in my setup.

JMO a tad blue. But it's plenty of light that being said I prefer a whiter than bluer look

I don't know how 40 degree optics would do for coverage on a 12x12x12 tank though. Although, I've never used 40 degree lenses either.

What par38 do you guys prefer as far as looks go? Seem to get a lot of mixed responses on this.

Looks is a personal choice-how can we give you the answer? I personally do not like it too blue.

So I think I'm going to settle on this one then http://www.rapidled.com/servlet/the-...D-PAR38/Detail and hang it above with the cord mentioned above. Hopefully it works out
